Morning
Head to your nearest bakery for some Tiropita or Spanakopita for breakfast, then take a stroll through the city and discover glimpses of its ancient past. The historic city centre is spliced with ruins from the Classical and Byzantine periods. Start at the Rotonda, an ancient temple that has served as a church and mosque, then visit the Archaeological Museum.
Afternoon
For lunch, head to Zythos – an institution on the corner of Filikis Etaireias just behind the iconic White Tower. Then take a stroll along the waterfront and sip frappés with the locals in one of the many cafe-bars.
Evening
At night, the city comes alive. Choose from the many bars and restaurants along the harbour or head out to Panorama on the city’s outskirts for a spectacular view of the city and surrounding area. Whisky is the drink of choice among locals, and for special occasions try out the famous Bouzouki nights for an authentic Greek night out.
